How to Show Yourself Compassion

So all week we’ve been talking about fear, and chances are good that at some point you’ve realized that your fears have held you back from doing something.

This realization can be super triggering for that guilt spiral. We start beating ourselves up for not realizing it sooner or not being better or not being stronger.

Take a deep breath, and tell yourself hey. It’s okay.

Wherever you are at in your life, it is totally fine to start from this place. It is not too late for anything. You still have time. You are still capable.

That voice in your head that scared you out of trying something daring and new before is the same voice that is trying to keep you down now. And that voice is a jerk. If you had a friend who constantly told you that you weren’t good enough, you wouldn’t be friends with that person anymore!

But the only way to overcome this voice is to love it. Every time it pops up, you tell it that you understand it’s stressed and frustrated and maybe panicking a little, but that’s okay and you love it (and yourself) no matter what. And slowly, bit by bit, over time that voice will become a little less loud and a little less mean, and you’ll become a little bit happier.

So love yourself! You are amazing!
